Fillings
Dental Fillings in Frisco, TX
Our dentist at Redemption Dental Frisco Dr. Amy Sojourner-Critz no longer practices the use of silver/mercury fillings. We interact daily with many patients who still have Silver/Mercury fillings in their mouths from years past. We regard these fillings as less-than-pleasing to the eye and know that, over time, weaker tooth structure will result.
At Redemption Dental Frisco, we employ the use of porcelain inlays and tooth-colored onlays to create a beautiful appearance in the mouth while adding strength to previously weakened areas of the tooth. Not only are these methods both beautiful and strong, they are also the prevailing bonding technology in the dental field.

Tooth-Colored Restorations
Our resin-based onlays are bonded on the individual tooth, creating a tight, more superior fit with the near duplicate appearance of your natural tooth. Our use of Tooth-Colored Restorations is used in cases when most of the tooth has been lost to decay. This allows for the remaining tooth structure to remain intact and strong.
Tooth-colored restorations contain fluoride, which helps prevent further decay. The resin in onlays wears exactly like natural teeth and does not require placement at the gum line. This allows your gums to remain healthy and stable. Ultimately, we are confident this treatment increases your love for YOUR Smile!
Silver Fillings
There are multiple reasons we no longer facilitate the use of silver fillings in our practice.
Silver fillings have harsh edges that, over time, wear down and may crack or even break off in your mouth.
Cracking or breaking of the silver filling exposes parts of your tooth that are sensitive and allows cavities to begin forming. As silver ages, the metal expands and contracts and may, at times, split. Silver fillings typically contain 50% mercury, which, over time, will corrode, leak, and possibly damage your teeth and gums.
At Redemption Dental Frisco, our dentist will recommend all fillings be replaced with Tooth-Colored Restorations.
